Mannequin Makeover

Before & After

First one must remove the fabric which usually is just glued on.  Usually comes off pretty easily.  Not this one.   The lower section came off okay but the middle section was very hard to peel off.

I was able to salvage some sort of pattern from the fabric pieces . The lower section was then covered in burlap with a hot glue gun.  I was feeling thankful for the invention of the hot glue gun! ( Originally would have been glued on painstakingly with some other type of glue!) So the two sections were covered with burlap & by the time I got to the bust 1 1/2 hours later decided that after I removed the fabric I decided cardboard is the way to go!

If I gave this project a rating, I would say skill level 3, patience & tolerance 10 & alot of determination!

~Hoping to find a new base for her, maybe a stencil of some sort and replace the knob at top with a glass doorknob which I have done before!  After all is done though what a beautiful transformation.~

Dinah is a busy lady. She is an army of one (with help), but at times like this, blogging takes precious time. So, I'm keeping the blog fresh while more important things are being accomplished. Beautiful top made with reclaimed white oak

This is the very versatile piece inspired by Jeanne de'Arc Living.  Since I won't be going to europe in the near future( where the original photo from the magazine was taken) , I thought we could produce a sort of look alike!  Nothing as good as the real antique~but close!  5 drawers, two shelves, incredibley solid with a white oak top that looks like butcher block!  We were able to make use of some wood we salvaged that was wonderful & old reclaimed white oak to make the top.  Do I dare say~so far my favorite....?

Old mossy urns...wonderful

From St. Paul MN:  Vintage urns with a five-o-clock shadow. I love the old mossy edge.  Martha couldn't fake that!  I'm keeping a pair for myself;  but have 6 more!  They are a larger urn, about 24-25 inches in diameter.
Imagine a pair gracing your front entry or your garden?  Perhaps in your bath with towels rolled up inside them... maybe with a glass top for a side table?  The possibilities are endless...add 'darling old urns' to your Jux99 shopping list!

Beautiful angel

Pretty angel temporarily resting on my porch-looking lovely.  Wouldn't she look good in your birdbath with birds perched on her shoulder, on your bookshelf or even in your sanctuary where you sleep.  Maybe she should watch over your guests...she would be beautiful and perfect where ever you choose her to be.

Dumpster!

No not dumpster diving!  It's just one of those days!  Where the junk seems to be taking over my life so I ordered a dumpster!  If anyone wants to come dumpster diving-have at it!  We are really getting down to business over here!

Mirror image

Mirror, mirror on the wall!  Well not quite, but what a great shaped frame, soon-to-be a fabulous mirror! 
Appreciate the iron settee,too, with all the swirls, just waiting for fun cushions and some company! Imagine it with some gorgeous planters.  Oh spring you are so close!
 Love the red mud boots-so does she!  This is the girl who plays "let's go to the antique store" with her dolls!

Well, I would like to post some more images but Rhett (my two year old) somehow changed my language settings to arabic so when I upload a picture(and I haven't figured out how to get only 1 image off my camera-not 793 images at a time) then type beside the picture it is in arabic!  Why this came out in English I feel was a stroke of luck!
